Dr. Rafael R. Portela completed his undergraduate training at Auburn University and then received his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine. He completed his internship in general surgery, after which he did his otolaryngology, head and neck surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD. He stayed at Johns Hopkins to complete a fellowship in Pediatric Otolarygology. He has been practicing in Miami, FL since 1988.

A published physician, Dr. Portela is Board Certified by the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
