Craig R. Folsom is a Boca Raton native who graduated from Pine Crest School before attending undergraduate studies at the University of Florida. Upon receiving his Bachelors of Science, he joined the United States Navy, accepting their Health Professions Scholarship Program to attend medical school at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated medical school in 2008 and went on active-duty service during which time he completed his categorical Otolaryngology Internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Virginia. After internship, he spent a year in the Navy fleet serving as a General Medical Officer for the Coastal Riverines. After completing that unique tour, he was accepted back to training for an Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery residency at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth which concluded in 2018.
After training, he stayed on at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth as staff surgeon, where he practiced as a comprehensive otolaryngologist in an active academic hospital-based setting. He became an Assistant Professor through both the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as well as Eastern Virginia Medical School. Dr. Folsom is a passionate teacher, which drove him to become the Assistant Residency Program Director for the Otolaryngology department for 3 years, helping to oversee and ensure high quality surgical residency training. As a physician researcher, Dr. Folsom secured research grants totaling over $100,000, has been awarded numerous research awards, and has been involved in over 20 publications, posters and presentations.
Dr. Folsom is Board Certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He recently completed a fellowship with the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA) and is excited to help patients manage their sinonasal allergic symptoms. He remains active with the AAOA, serving on the finance and investing committees. After over a decade of active-duty military service, Dr. Folsom is excited to move his practice down to Boca Raton, Florida.
